Lithics Green open access policy

Funders and other institutions are increasingly adopting policies that require research articles funded by them to be made open access. We have the following Green OA policy to allow authors, librarians and others to comply with their obligations to their institutions and funders.

Authors may upload the version of record, here defined as the PDF of the final published manuscript as it appears in the journal, to an institutional and/or centrally organised repository, and/or in free public servers, upon publication in the journal.

When uploading the version of record, the repository metadata should include a link to the article on the Lithics journal webpages, which will guarantee that the definitive version is accessible and that the article can be cited correctly. In addition, the following credit line should be included when depositing:

Depositing early view articles

Lithics has recently begun releasing articles in early view ahead of their publication in a volume of the journal. Early view articles may be deposited as outlined above. However, as the final citation will not yet be finalised, the following credit line should be used instead:

THE LITHIC STUDIES SOCIETY: The Lithic Studies Society was founded in 1979 and seeks to
advance the international study of lithic industries in the broadest possible context. New members are

MEMBERSHIP: Applications for membership, subscriptions and changes of address should be sent to
the Membership Secretary, Rob Davis, c/o Lithic Studies Society, British Museum, Franks House, 38–
56 Orsman Road, London, N1 5QJ. The annual subscription, due on 1st October, is currently £15, and
payment by annual standing order is the favoured method of payment. Payment can also be made
online via Paypal.

Journal History

Lithics is the Lithic Studies Society’s annual, peer-reviewed journal. It is devoted
to publishing research which enhances our understanding of past societies through
the study of stone tools. Published in the spring of each year, Lithics contains
research articles, as well as shorter communications, book reviews, a bibliography
of recent publications relevant to lithic studies, and news of the Society’s related activities.

It is circulated free of charge to all members of the Society. Communications concerning
papers, letters, notes and reviews should be sent to the Editor/Book Review Editor,
Frederick Foulds and Peter Hoare electronically at lithicseditor@gmail.com. The Committee
welcomes contributions, including suggestions for reviews, from any member of the
Society. Submissions should be made solely by electronic copy—see here for details.
