Journal History
Lithics is the Lithic Studies Society’s annual, open access, peer-reviewed journal. First published in 1980 as the “Lithic Studies Society Newsletter” it was re-named to “Lithics. Journal of the Lithic Studies Society” in 2004. It is devoted to publishing research which enhances our understanding of past societies through the study of stone tools. Published in the spring of each year, Lithics contains research articles, as well as shorter communications, book reviews, a bibliography of recent publications relevant to lithic studies, and news of the Society’s related activities.
Physical copies of the journal are circulated free of charge to all members of the Society, but digital copies are freely attainable and open access. Communications concerning papers, letters, notes and reviews should be sent to the Editor electronically at editor@lithics.org. The Committee welcomes contributions, including suggestions for reviews, from any member of the Society. Submissions should be made solely by electronic copy—see here for details.
